Yavapai Humane Society Hopes to Empty Shelter in July

YHS asking community to take home a new pet for a donation

“July is the busiest month of the year and we need to find homes for these terrific animals,” say Ed Boks, YHS Executive Director. “Having an Empty the Shelter promotion in July has helped relieve crowding in kennels in the past. I’m confident our community will answer the call again!”

Adopters can pick their own price for any cat or kitten and all adult dogs. Puppies under 6 months old, dogs under 15 lbs, and purebreds are available at their normal, low adoption minimum donation. All adopters must still adhere to YHS’ adoption guidelines and application.

All animals are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and examined by a veterinarian before adoption.  Adoption fees only cover about 20% of the cost to prepare an animal for adoption; the rest is covered by donations from the public.  Normally adoption fees range from $35 to $120 depending on the age and type of the animal.

“It is our hope the community will respond to this crisis” said Boks.  “If you are looking for a pet to adopt then you will not find a better time or a better selection.”

Yavapai Humane Society is open for adoptions every day except Tuesdays and is located at 1625 Sundog Ranch Road.  For more information visit or call 928-445-2666.
