Bargain Hounds and Pet Lovers Turn Out for Yavapai Humane Society Thrift Store Grand Opening

PRESCOTT, Ariz.,(October 13, 2014) – Yavapai Humane Society (YHS) gives a round of a-PAWS to all who joined its staff and volunteers at the Grand Opening of its new Thrift Store (1601 Iron Springs Road, Prescott, Ariz., 86305).

The Grand Opening kicked off an exciting future for the new store and the irreplaceable support it is sure to bring to YHS. More than 400 patrons and supporters frequented the new YHS Thrift Store during Grand Opening weekend (October 10-11) and sales over the weekend were beyond YHS’ expectations. The main event was fun for the whole family, presenting door prizes and giveaways, discounts, refreshments, a balloon artist and face painting.

On behalf of the entire staff and volunteers YHS Thrift Store Manager Michael Drew thanks all the bargain hounds and animal lovers who came to the occasion. “The store plays a significant role in the financial stability of the entire organization, also meaning that our patrons and supporters play a big role in helping Yavapai Humane Society save lives. We’re so pleased with the great turnout; it was truly a thrilling way to enter the future of our store and celebrate that with everyone.”

Not only do shoppers make a difference when they ring up at the Thrift Store cash register, they now receive an excellent thrifting experience while making a difference. The new store features quality items that community members generously donate, and dedicated volunteers sort and organize. It also presents a boutique—Fido’s Finds, and an antique corner—Tabby’s Treasures.

All this while shopping in a new space that is nearly double the size of the YHS Thrift Store former location, but more economical for the shelter to operate. Yavapai Humane Society is grateful for the opportunity to serve the community in an even greater capacity that also benefits the homeless animals in its care.

The Yavapai Humane Society has been serving Yavapai County’s citizens and animals since 1972. YHS has a Pet Adoption Center and a Lost & Found Pet Center, a Cat Adoption Center in PetSmart, a Thrift Shop and a separate spay/neuter clinic offering low-cost spay/neuters and low-cost vaccinations all located in Prescott.  In July of 2010, YHS adopted a “no-kill” ethic which has led to our current live release rate of 97%, making YHS the safest shelter in Arizona. |
