Kathleen Murphy, President & CEO of Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters recently announced Credit Union West’s presenting sponsorship of Bowl for Kids Sake 2012. Janet Humphrey, Credit Union West’s Community Education Specialist presented the sponsorship check to Murphy during a Chamber Mixer.

According to Murphy, “We are proud to partner with Credit Union West. They are a local membership organization truly committed to giving back to and enhancing the quality of life of their members and the communities they serve.” Bowl for Kids’ Sake is Yavapai County’s largest campaign for kids. Every year the event underwrites the cost of matching hundreds of boys and girls and is YBBBS’ single largest source of new Big Brothers, Big Sisters and Family matches.

“Credit Union West’s presenting sponsorship means that every dime raised by our event participants will be used to give vulnerable boys and girls the life-changing gift of a Big Brother, Big Sister or Family Match. This is an incredible gift and will positively, fundamentally change the lives of hundreds of children in our community forever,” explained Murphy.

Bowl for Kids’ Sake kicked off this month and continues through April 1, with Bowling taking place March 3 & 4, March 24 and March 30 & April 1 at Antelope Lanes, Plaza Bowl and Cliff Castle Casino.

Bowl for Kids’ Sake isn’t about bowling at. It’s about having fun and helping kids. Big Brothers Big Sisters recruits Team Captains from companies, civic clubs, and the general public. These captains recruit team members, all of whom agree to get at least $125 in pledges. In return they are invited to the biggest party in town to enjoy free bowling, free pizza, free drinks and prizes.

Murphy continued by saying, “This year, we are excited to have leaders, like Credit Union West, and our area’s major employers all getting behind the event. This support for our communities’ most vulnerable children is amazing and it comes at a critical time. During the past two years, there has been an unprecedented demand for our services. There are hundreds of children in every community and school throughout Yavapai County who are not yet matched with a “Big” and are on our waiting list. Thanks to Credit Union West and the sponsors and participants of this event, we have the opportunity to match these waiting kids.”
