Due to the Federal Government lapse in funding and partial shutdown, the Employment Eligibility Verification Service known as E-Verify will not be available as of 12/22/2018. This should not impact ability to continue employment recruitment efforts and hiring of new staff. Employers are still required to verify employment eligibility.
During this time, employers will not be able to enroll in E-Verify, access their accounts, create a new case, or take action on any case. Additionally, employers will not be able to delete or edit accounts, reset passwords, edit company information, or run reports.
Employers must still complete the Form I-9 no later than the third business day after an employee starts work for pay and comply with all Form I-9 requirements. Any employees wishing to resolve E-Verify Tentative Nonconfirmations (TNCs) will be extended. The number of days E-Verify is unavailable will not count toward the days the employee began the resolution process.
Employers are not to take any adverse action against employees while an E-Verify case remains in a hold status.
