Weather Discussion:

Expect a dry and warm week for the first part of the week, with very hot conditions Tues and Wed. A low chance for some limited moisture to move back in Thursday through the weekend. But don’t hold your breath on this.

Additional notes for the weather nuts out there:

August precipitation over Arizona continues well below average. In the Prescott region, we are running between 25-90% of normal, depending on location. If you want to look at recent precipitation totals, percentages of normal etc., navigate to and look at the various products there.

This drier-than-normal monsoon season is associated with higher than normal atmospheric pressure over Mexico and lower over the Pacific northwest. This makes the mid-level flow more southwesterly, directing dry air over Arizona. Wetter summers are associated with the reverse of this - lower pressures over Mexico and higher to our north, resulting in moist flow from the south or southeast.
