The annual Prescott High School Band family night was held last night on Bill Shepard Field with parents sharing the spotlight with their children as they performed the musical program 'The Planets". Although the field was pretty torn up, most parents made the best of it. Approximately 80 parents braved to cold and muddy conditions. The band played as each parent marched along side their student. Something like this gives the parents and students an experience that they will remember forever. My daughter Denise , who is in the PHS Color Guard enjoys having me there to get an up close look, along the difficulty it is to perform. Actually my goal is to stay out of the way of any marchers, flags or sabers. Which I am happy to report that I did. The night before at a haunted maze, not so lucky, Anyway, that is another story.
The members practice long and hard to insure that they always give their best performance. Being under the lights and getting to share a memorable experience with my daughter is something that I will cherosh forever. Like the other parents who spend countless hours and money to support thier kids, it is very rewarding to see the dedication it takes to put on a first class performance.
Next year my daughter will be a senior. It will be the last time I will get to share in such an event. I know my daughter and I will be looking forward to that show. Being proud of our students for what they achieve on and off that field is something I wish everyone could enjoy.
