Listen Up! Politics

26 October 2018

Yep! This topic could certainly pour gas on the BBQ. But since early voting is already happening, we have looked through a selection that may help with your decisions, change your outlook, or just give you something to think about.

Arizona Capitol Times

The Arizona Capitol Times is now bringing you The Breakdown, a weekly podcast on the latest news from the Arizona political scene. Reporter Katie Campbell will be your host, and each installment will feature in-depth analysis from Rachel Leingang on the governor’s beat, Senate reporter Ben Giles and House reporter Paulina Pineda. If you want to know the ins and outs of what is going on in the corridors of Arizona Government, this is your chance to follow up on issues that may effect you at the local level. Definitely not a Right wing show.

The Gaggle

The Gaggle is a weekly political Podcast hosted by Yvonne Wingett Sanchez, that is part of the group represented by AzCentral, The Arizona Republic, and USA Today. Definitely not right wing. But covering some stories that are more broadly focused on other parts of the state rather than Phoenix. This is a group effort that brings in a few regular reports, experts, and  rotating guests, Congressional delegation reporter Ron Hansen, State government and politics reporter Maria Polletta, Reporter Richard Ruelas, State politics reporter Dustin Gardiner, Business and legislative reporter Ryan Randazzo, and Politics editor Dan Nowicki.

Available at iTunes, Google Play, Soundcloud, and Stitcher

The Curt Schilling Podcast

Three-time World Series Champion Curt Schilling is more than a former All-Star Major League Pitcher. He has his hand on the pulse of current events — whether it be cultural, political, or spiritual. Building on the success of his original show — Whatever it Takes — the former MLB star and ESPN has brought the same hard-hitting style to a new format, with The Curt Schilling Podcast "As Whatever it Takes continued to grow the podcast format became a no -brainer,” Schilling explains. “The ability to organize and pack in content, and our ability to reign in amazing guests such as Colonel North, Diamond and Silk, Sheriff Clarke, and Dan Bongino, makes this one a must listen!” This is a Brietbart production and is definitely a right-leaning show.

Available at iTunes and Breitbart, along with several other political podcasts.

Reason Podcast

Reason magazine has been since 1968 the magazine of, "free minds and free markets," then along came, and now the Reason Podcast. It covers politics, culture, and ideas through a provocative mix of news, analysis, commentary, and reviews. The Reason Podcast provides a refreshing alternative to right-wing and left-wing opinion, by making a principled case for liberty and individual choice in all areas of human activity. Hosted by Nick Gillespie, Matt Welch, and other Libertarian thinkers. Is it leaning right or left? Give it a listen, then you can decide.

Arizona Water News

The Arizona Department of Water Resources brings out a Podcast that covers exactly what people in Arizona love, water that is. In a state where the unofficial motto is, "whiskey’s for drinkin', water’s for fightin'," no other topic can be so always on point. A bit pedantic perhaps, but if your interest is water or its sister weather, this is where to start. ADWR Director Thomas Buschatzke is a  frequent contributor, but other people show up as well. Scroll thru past episodes to find a special concern. Adding new episodes seem to be on an ad hoc basis. Some of the episodes fall into the oldies but goodies category, since the latest episode is from February, 2018.
