On Friday June 8, Saturday June 9, and Sunday June 10 there will be an art show called “Departures: The Art of Leaving This Place.” Sponsored by the Community Partnership for Comfort Care, the show will be at the Mountain Artists Guild gallery at 228 N. Alarcon St.
The show will include 32 pieces of art inspired by end-of-life, aging, dying, death, loss, bereavement, or spiritual and philosophical perspectives relating to these topics. Artworks include paintings, drawings, sculpture and mixed media pieces. One of the unique features of the show is the artist’s narratives that accompany each entry. These are often moving, thoughtful reflections on why the artist created this work and how it ties into the theme of Departures.
The gala opening will be Friday evening from 6-9. Many of the pieces in the exhibition are for sale. There will be live music, hors d’oeuvers and refreshments as well as information about the Community Partnership for Comfort Care.
The gallery will be open Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm.
