Author Nancy Burgess, Prescott’s former Historic Preservation Specialist and recipient of the 2010 Sharlot Hall Award, will sign copies of her latest book An Illustrated History of Mayer, Arizona: Stagecoaches, Mining, Ranching and the Railroad on Saturday, July 21 in Sharlot Hall Museum’s gift store, Sharlot’s Timeless Treasures. The store is located inside the Bashford House on the corner of Gurley and McCormick streets, and Nancy will be there from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Copies of her book will be on sale in the store.
Nancy has had a life-long passion for the history of the Grand Canyon State. Since 1987 her work in historic preservation has included projects that provide protection, interpretation, education, rehabilitation and restoration of scores of significant and unique cultural resources in Central Arizona.
In addition, she has found time to write books and articles on preservation and local history. She collaborated with Karen Despain of The Daily Courier to produce Around Yavapai County: Celebrating Arizona's Centennial and in 2005 published A Photographic Tour of 1916 Prescott, Arizona. Both books are available in Sharlot’s Timeless Treasures gift store.
