This weekend one of the largest groups of Republican Women is expected to gather from all over the country at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort and Spa in Phoenix. The ladies are gathering for the 38th Biennial Convention of the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW). The Arizona Federation of Republican Women is the host of this year’s convention.
The NFRW was founded in 1938 and is now one of the largest grassroots political organizations in the country, representing thousands of women in clubs across the country. Their objectives include:
- Informing the public through political and legislative education, training, and activity;
- Recruit, train, and elect Republican candidates;
- Protect the integrity of the election process;
- Promote the Republican Party principals, objectives, and policies;
- Unite and facilitate cooperation of the clubs within states and the country;
- Increase the effectiveness of women in the cause of good government.
The largest club in the country is right here in Arizona, the Republican Women of Prescott, with over 700 members.
About 1300 women are expected to attend the NFRW Convention, including Republican Presidential Candidate Carly Fiorina, who will be the opening keynote speaker.
While at the NFRW convention, a Presidential Straw Poll will be featured. Professional pollster Kellyanne Conway and her company, the polling company will conduct the straw poll. Voting will start on Thursday, September 10, and finish Saturday, September 12, with the results announced on Sunday, September 13.
The ladies are encouraged to use the official hashtag, #GOPWomenDecide in their tweets and social media.
