Ribbon Cutting Marks Completion of Willow Creek Road Realignment

PRESCOTT, AZ (August 4, 2016) On Thursday, August 4, 2016, at 10 a.m., the City of Prescott and Yavapai County celebrated completion of the Willow Creek Road Realignment Project with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.  Current and former City and County Officials, as well as District 1 Legislative Representatives, the Central Yavapai Metropolitan Planning Organization (CYMPO), and the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), were in attendance.

In her remarks, ADOT State Transportation Board Vice-Chair, Deanna Beaver, representing District 6, noted the need for balancing transportation needs with economic development in the Airport area.  She went on to comment, “by working together, ADOT, the City of Prescott, Yavapai County, and CYMPO, have developed a transportation solution that will meet the needs of the area for years to come.  Willow Creek Road is a project done right, where regional transportation is improved when local agencies and the State put their heads together to find the best outcome.”

The new 1.6 mile link has benefitted traffic circulation by providing a more direct route between State Route 89 and Willow Creek Road, relieving one-third of the total traffic on State Route 89 through the Airport area.  The new alignment will also function as an important bypass around upcoming construction of the Arizona Department of Transportation's State Route 89 widening project between the Deep Well Ranch Road Roundabout and State Route 89A.

The City of Prescott and Yavapai County appreciate the cooperation of project partners including the Arizona Department of Transportation, Deep Well Ranch, and Fann Contracting, as well as the patience of motorists during construction of the Willow Creek Road Realignment Project.
