Greg Mengarelli Files Nominating Petitions for the Office of Mayor of the City of Prescott

Long term Prescott resident and businessman, Greg Mengarelli, filed his nominating petitions to qualify for the August 2017 Primary for the Office of Mayor of the City of Prescott. Although only 718 signatures are required to qualify as a candidate, Greg delivered close to 1,400 signatures to the election office. When asked how he accomplished this feat in just 37 days since he requested his election packet, Greg said: “Once I announced my intention to run for mayor, the outpouring of support from the community was overwhelming. In addition to my family, friends, and neighbors, I had supporters from all walks of life out in the community circulating my petitions. I am so grateful for their hard work and support.”

When asked why he decided to run for the Mayor of Prescott, Greg said: “Our family has benefitted from the quality of life and endless opportunities that our great city provides. I cherish our way of life in Prescott and want to preserve and enhance it.  The city has some challenges to face and I know that my background in management and communication can help solve those problems. I want to preserve the great attributes of our city so that our children have the opportunities we have been afforded. Prescott's storied legacy has and will stand the test of time.”

Greg’s conservative values of love of God, country, and family are the byproduct of his upbringing in America’s heartland. The son of a Methodist pastor and high school football coach, Greg grew up in the small rural communities of Kansas. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in Park Resource Management. In 1995, Greg moved to Prescott to manage the United Christian Youth Camp and today is its Executive Director, overseeing an organization of more than 150 staff and a $4.0 million budget. Active in community affairs, Greg was elected to the Prescott Unified School District Board in 2015 and currently serves as its president.

Greg and his wife of 26 years, Sheila, have nine children, four of whom are adopted. Over the years, Greg has volunteered his time with his kids’ Little League, club baseball, and soccer teams.  The family enjoys the great outdoors and spends their time fishing, biking, hunting, and camping. The family attends the Prescott Christian Church where Greg has served in various leadership positions over the years.
