SpringHill Suites By Marriott Raises $1000 For Taylor Hicks School Art Supplies

PRESCOTT, ARIZONA (May 15, 2017). For four consecutive years SpringHill Suites by Marriott in Prescott has raised money for local schools through a national program. The 2016 SaveArt! initiative sponsored by the Prescott SpringHill Suites has concluded with a contribution of $1000 worth of brand new art supplies for one of Prescott’s local elementary schools. SpringHill Suites partnered with Taylor Hicks Elementary School in the fall of 2016 along with cooperation from the brand’s partner, Fresh Artists, a vibrant nonprofit organization that supports art education in under-funded local public schools across the country. SpringHill Suites associates, hotel guests and local residents contributed exactly $1000 in its fundraising endeavor which enabled the purchase of a wide variety of brand new art supplies for the school. SpringHill Suites by Marriott has a passion for the arts and recognizes the importance of art education as a tool for character development and academic improvement in young students. As a nationwide program for all SpringHill Suites in the country, the mission is to provide high-quality art supplies to support art programs in under-resourced local public schools.

Christine Dean, art teacher at Taylor Hicks comments, “We are so grateful to the Marriott SpringHill Suites and their patrons for their generous donation of art materials. Due to their kindness and support, our budding young artists will have new art supplies for the upcoming school year.”

“We not only aim to inspire our guests with modern design and style, but also understand the importance of art education as a tool for young students. With everything that we accomplish throughout the year here at Springhill Suites, this by far is our favorite”, says Alondra Flores, General Manager of SpringHill Suites.

In its first two years, the SaveArt! program contributed art supplies to Miller Valley Elementary School, however after the closure of Miller Valley in 2015, the program needed to find a new partner school. The program was moved to Taylor Hicks in the fall of 2015. "Fine arts is non-negotiable in Prescott, Arizona. Time and time again, over the past few years, our community has stood up to fight for the arts. It is clear that we believe in well-rounded, artistic children in our fine town” says Joseph Howard, PUSD Superintendent.

SpringHill Suites is one of five Arizona hotels managed by Ponderosa Hotel Management Services, LLC headquartered in Prescott.
