Two arrested for Attempted Homicide, Aggravated Assault & Child Abuse of a 10 year old.

On June 8, 2017 at approx. 2:45 PM Chino Valley Police responded to a report of an unresponsive 10 year old child that was not breathing. The emergency response included members of the Chino Valley Police Department, LifeLine Ambulance and Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority to the residence in the 1200 block of Poco Ln in Chino Valley.

The child, who suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns on various parts of his body along with bruising to his back, torso, extremities, neck and head, was not breathing. CAFMA performed emergency lifesaving treatment and the child was transported to YRMC where he was then flown to Phoenix Children’s Hospital where he remains in extremely critical condition.

The two individuals charged in this matter are Daniel Terry a 36 year old Chino Valley resident and his girlfriend, 34 year old Chino Valley resident Julianna Moreno. Multiple Felony charges for the pair include attempted 1st degree murder, child abuse and aggravated assault. Evidence suggests these injuries were inflicted upon the child at the residence, while he was bound and restrained and unable to protect himself or flee.

The Joint Investigation headed by Chino Valley Police with assistance from Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, Yavapai County Attorney’s Office and Department of Child Services is in the early stages and no additional information is available for release at this time. The investigation and searching of the residence continued throughout the day and into the early morning hours. We continue to gather and process evidence in this matter. Additional information will be provided once it is available for release.

We ask for prayers for this child and all those affected by this tragedy including the dedicated first responders that worked hard at the scene and continue to do so throughout this investigation.
