At about 10:30 AM yesterday Prescott Fire Dept. Dispatch received a call for a two vehicle collision on Willow Creek Road and College Heights Drive. When the initial arriving units arrived on scene they found two vehicles with heavy damage and two patients. The two patients were both treated by advanced life support personnel for their injuries. Both patients were wearing their seatbelts and both vehicles, a Pontiac Solstice and a PT Cruiser, had airbags that deployed. The patients were transported to Yavapai Regional Medical Center for leg, wrist and arm injuries. Traffic was restored to Willow Creek Road after about an hour and the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
It is recommended to wear your seatbelt each and every time that you get in the car. The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration reports that over half of all car accidents occur within a 5 mile radius of a persons’ home. Had both these patients not been wearing their seatbelts, the outcome could’ve been significantly worse.
