On December 23, 2018, YCSO deputies were assigned to meet with the mother of a 16-year-old daughter regarding a sex offense complaint. She identified a trusted person known to her daughter who was sending her pornographic images on a social media service. Deputies were able to view images on a cell phone confiscated by the teen’s mom and confirmed both sexual images and sexually related text conversation between the teen, the trusted adult, and another man also identified in the message stream.
All the parties were using an online chat/messaging application called ‘kik.’ During a conversation with the teen victim, it was learned the primary adult suspect had purchased a cell phone for her with an unlimited data plan allowing use of the messaging service. The victim explained she eventually started receiving nude male images on her ‘kik’ account and later realized it was someone she knew and he was identified as 50-year-old Todd Reiman from Paulden. The other male involved in the messaging was 19-year-old Michael Nash from Prescott. At the time, the victim denied any direct sexual contact with either party and indicated the messaging had been ongoing for several weeks. She acknowledged both suspects knew she was only 16-years-old.
After the initial interview and gathering of evidence, the case was turned over to detectives from the Criminal Investigations Bureau for follow-up.
Detectives reviewed additional messaging between the victim and Reiman which included self-created sexually explicit videos from him among other pornographic images. Reiman had also uploaded a video of the victim in a bathroom which was shared with numerous members who followed his account.
Based on the overwhelming evidence already gathered, detectives knew it was important to locate Reiman quickly to prevent further sex crimes involving the victim. That same day, December 23, 2018, Reiman was found at his employer’s business in Prescott and arrested. During an interview, Reiman admitted sexual contact with the victim within the last 2 weeks along with the ongoing sharing of sexual images between himself and the victim. He also admitted videotaping the victim taking a bath. Several times, 50-year-old Reiman placed responsibility on the 16-year-old victim for encouraging his sexual exploits with her.
When asked about Michael Nash, Reiman indicated he had only met him once and believed Nash had direct contact with the victim recently.
Reiman was booked into the Camp Verde Detention Center on charges including Sexual Conduct with a Minor; Permit, Film, and Distribute Minor engaged in Sexual Conduct; Aggravated Luring of Minor for Sexual Conduct and Furnish Obscene Images to Minor. He remains in-custody on a $250,000 cash only bond.
During the investigation into the contact with Nash, detectives located and reviewed ‘kik’ messages confirming Nash had direct sexual contact with the victim. In a later interview, the victim confirmed sexual contact with Nash in a Prescott area public restroom.
Nash was located in Prescott on December 27, 2018, and arrested on charges including Luring Minor for Sexual Contact and Sexual Contact with a Minor. He remains in the Camp Verde Detention Center on a bond of $50,000.
