On December 27, 2018, 23-year-old Lawton Thompson was located and arrested inside a Prescott Valley business for several charges including Transfer/Sales of Marijuana, Involving a Minor in a Drug Offense, Sexual Abuse - Victim under 15, Molestation of a Child and Kidnapping - for sex offense of a child. He remains in-custody on a $150,000 bond.
Background – Detectives interviewed the victim about the allegations on December 26, 2018, after she disclosed the sex offense to a family member who contacted the Sheriff’s Office. It was learned that Thompson rented a room in a Prescott based home belonging to the victim’s father. On a certain day in mid-December, Thompson, who was apparently intoxicated at the time, approached the victim and initiated sexual contact inside a room in the home. When the victim tried to pull away, Thompson restrained her and continued his illicit actions, only stopping when interrupted by someone knocking at the door. The victim was able to escape at that time.
Thompson later approached the victim and offered her drugs and money if she would not disclose what he had done. The victim was able to eventually able tell a family member a few days later about Thompson’s actions.
