It is with heavy and saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our Bengal tiger, “Cassie”. She was under veterinary treatment for recent medical complications and passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2019.
Cassie was rescued from a zoo in Nebraska that was forced to close in January 2009. She has been a member of HPZS animal family for over 10 years. She has warmed the hearts of all who knew her and delighted the guests with her amazing personality. It is an understandably sad time for HPZS, as we know what she meant to so many.
We want to thank Dr. Ken Skinner and the veterinary staff at Prescott Animal Hospital as well as the HPZS keeper staff for their dedication and ongoing care for her welfare.
A memorial will be set up in front of her enclosure for those community members wishing to visit the Sanctuary in her memory
HPZS is a local not-for-profit, 501 (c) (3) wildlife sanctuary and education facility dependent on our community for support. We are open to the public year-round and are available for educational out-reach programs on request. We are also conservation triage staging to more than 200 injured wild animals every year.
