The Paris Air Show finally gets to meet ALICE in person.

For those of you that follow Prescott Mayor Greg Mengarelli on Facebook, you may have noticed that he and his wife are in Paris, France right now.

They, along with City Manager Michael Lamar, are actually there to attend the world-wide Paris Air Show and support Eviation Aircraft, an Israel-based startup company, as it reveals ALICE for the first time on a public stage.

Eviation is an exciting company - just ask Wall Street Journal, who crowned Eviation as the Audience Choice for the most promising startup. Or, Fast Company, which selected Eviation as one of the Top 10 Most Innovative Companies in Transportation - wait, make that one of the Top Three.

So, why would the Mayor and City Manager of Prescott, Arizona care about an Israeli startup company? Well, Eviation’s North American headquarters are right here in Prescott, Arizona. Their flagship aircraft is called ALICE, and it is all-electric and zero-emission. It will hold up to 9 passengers, and serve as a commuter jet.

When Eviation chose Prescott as their headquarters, Mayor Greg Mengarelli explained,  “Eviation is the type of high-technology company that we have been seeking for Prescott,” he said.  “Their presence here opens the door to collaboration with our local colleges and universities, and the possibility of sustainable jobs for Prescott’s citizens.”

In the meantime, Mayor Mengarelli and City Manager Lamar will be representing Prescott on a world stage, hoping to develop relationships that will encourage additional economic development and world-wide recognition to benefit the entire region. With the close proximity of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, the further development at the Prescott Regional Airport, the new flight terminal, and the need for a supply chain with Eviation’s imminent manufacturing of ALICE, there is much to discuss within the aircraft industry.

Economic Development Consultant Jim Robb explained that the Mayor and City Manager have much to do while in France, "I have so many meetings set up for them they will be busy morning, noon and night.”

After the Paris Airshow, Eviation will be bringing the ALICE aircraft to Prescott. Can’t wait to meet her!
