The Prescott Fire Department and the City of Prescott are joining a national tribute to “Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters”. October 5th and 6th is the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend, and since 2017, landmarks around the country have been lit up in red during this time in remembrance of those who have given their lives in the line of duty.
Throughout this week, arrangements were made by the City of Prescott Facilities personnel to illuminate Prescott Fire stations (Station 71 and 74) for this observance. In addition, Prescott City Hall will also be lit red. This will continue through this weekend and through Fire Prevention Week which runs October 6th-12th.
This is the 38th annual national observation of the memorial weekend and will include services to be held on Sunday, October 6th at the National Fallen Firefighter’s Memorial, located on the grounds of the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
