Flooding & Roadwork today

Flood Control

The Prescott City council meets at 3 this afternoon to consider funding to help with flood control in certain areas. An agreement with the Yavapai County Flood Control District includes 600 thousand dollars in funding for various drainage improvement projects. Some of the projects include the city wide stormwater master plan, the Willow Creek Levee analysis, Robinson Drive reconstruction and the Community Rating System analysis. For projects that aren’t fully covered by the Flood Control District funding, the balance will be provided by street, water or sewer funds, as budgeted this fiscal year. The City Council meeting will be held at City Hall on South Cortez Street.

Road work in Chino Valley

Some Chino Valley streets are receiving improvements. The Town has started complete pulverization and reconstruction of Reed Road from Road 3 North to Road 4 North, as well as Road 4 North from Reed to near Road 1 West and Chino Drive from Center Street to the end. Town officials say the reconstruction process is scheduled to take 3 to 6 weeks. Expect the roads to be closed to all but local traffic during this time. The road condition will be a gravel surface during construction. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes to avoid delays. In mid to late August, Outer Loop Road from Road One West to Highway 89 is scheduled to receive a chip seal surface, and so is Road 1 East from Perkinsville Road to Road 4 North. Traffic striping may be eliminated for a time during the seal coating process, but closures will be limited to just a few days. Alternate routes are also advised for these streets.
