Bill's Newscast: National Night Out Tonight in Chino Valley

06 November 2018

Time to (finally) celebrate National Night Out!

Veterans Day is this Sunday, but Yavapai College will be honoring veterans tomorrow night.

At 5:30, the college will host its 3rd annual Veterans Celebration and Resource Fair. Giveaways for Yavapai’s 50th anniversary will be available at the door, there will be resource tables, local resource representatives will be present and light food and refreshments will be provided. Donations will also be accepted for a scholarship for Yavapai College veterans. The celebration will take place in the Building M Community Room on the Verde Valley campus, located on Black Hills Drive in Clarkdale. The live band Electric Swamp Poets will perform. On Wednesday, November 14th at 4:30, the Veterans Celebration and Resource Fair moves to the Prescott campus on Sheldon Street. The live band Mood Swing will perform in the Building 19 Community Room. These celebrations are free to the public and Yavapai College veterans are encouraged to attend.

Due to the wet weather created by hurricane rosa last month, Chino Valley’s National Night Out has been rescheduled for this afternoon.

The event, which was originally scheduled for october second, runs from four to eight at memory park, located on palomino road. Boom bandit entertainment and country music star matt farris are scheduled to appear along with chino valley officers. There will also be free hot dogs, chips and drinks and activities for all ages. This year the department has added an impaired driver course where people can see first hand the dangers of driving impaired. National night out, which started in 1984, is intended to inform the public about police and community programs.
