Bill's Newscast: Marijuana Cultivation Operations Ended

20 November 2018

Marijuana cultivation operations found and seized.

Two marijuana cultivation operations are no more thanks to Arizona Department of Public Safety detectives.

The operations were located on 2 properties in Yavapai County.  DPS spokesman Bart Graves explains plenty of evidence has been seized. Graves says this was a pretty sophisticated operation. Six people are in custody for possession and production of marijuana for sale, possession of narcotics and dangerous drugs, production of narcotic drugs and fraudulent schemes.  Two of the suspects, 39 year old Vanessa Bennett and  48 year old Mitchell Kirkley are from Seligman.  The other suspects are from Fort Mohave and Quartzsite.

The Yavapai County Board of Supervisors is adjusting its meeting schedule this week due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Board normally meets at 9 Wednesday mornings, but rather than meet the day before Thanksgiving, the Supervisors are meeting at 9 tomorrow morning. On the agenda is the Fiscal Year 2019 revenue and expenditure budget of the Sedona-Oak Creek Airport Authority.  According to Assistant Administrator Jack Fields, a budget must be submitted annually due to a 2003 lease agreement between Yavapai County and the Authority.  The Authority submitted their budget in October for Board consideration. If no action is taken by the end of the month, the budget is considered approved. If it’s rejected, the Board and the Authority must meet within 10 days of that action in an attempt to resolve any disagreements.  The Board of Supervisors meeting will be held in the Verde Valley Administrative Services Complex, located on South 6th Street in Cottonwood.
