Roughrider Softball Players Named to All-ACCAC Team

They’ll be playing at the Region I Tournament in Yuma.

Five Roughrider softball players were named to the All-ACCAC Team as voted on by the ACCAC coaches. Additionally, three Roughriders were voted to the NJCAA Region I Division I First Team.

Kylie Brown and Shaylee Alani were named to the All-ACCAC First Team and the NJCAA Region I Division I First Team.  Shaye Pinner, Brianna Griffiths and Neenah Pangilinan were named to the All-ACCAC Second Team. Pinner garnered First Team All-NJCAA Region I honors.

Kylie, a sophomore catcher/1B, hit .459 on the year (4th in the ACCAC), had 21 doubles (5th in the ACCAC), 18 home runs (1st in the ACCAC, 9th in the NJCAA) and 69 runs batted in (3rd in the ACCAC).

Shaylee, a freshman second baseman, hit .469 (2nd in the ACCAC), 27 doubles (1st in the ACCAC, 3rd in the NJCAA, 18 home runs (1st in the ACCAC, 9th in the NJCAA), 79 runs batted in (1st in the ACCAC, 2nd in the NJCAA and 77 runs scored (2nd in the ACCAC, 10th in the NJCAA).

Shaye Pinner, a freshman pitcher, had a 23-5 overall record (3rd in the ACCAC, 8th in the NJCAA), 5 saves (1st in the ACCAC, 6th in the NJCAA), 188 strike outs (2nd in the ACCAC) and a 3.489 ERA.

Brianna Griffiths, a sophomore shortstop, hit .378 on the year with 21 doubles (5th in the ACCAC), 15 home runs (3rd in the ACCAC) and 77 runs scored (2nd in the ACCAC, 10th in the NJCAA).

Neenah Pangilinan, a sophomore outfielder, hit .335 on the season with 16 doubles (10th in the ACCAC), 7 home runs, 62 runs scored (6th in the ACCAC) and 26/27 stolen bases (4th in the ACCAC).

This is the second time that Griffiths and Pangilinan have received all conference recognition. In 2018, Griffiths was named to the first team and Pangilinan was named to the third team. Both Brown and Alani are now candidates for NJCAA Divison I All-American awards.

The Roughriders look to punch their ticket to the NJCAA Division I Softball National Tournament this weekend at the Region I tournament in Yuma, Arizona. YC opens up the tournament facing Central Arizona College at 9:00 AM on Friday. If the Roughriders win, they will play at 3:00 PM against the winner of the Arizona Western/ Pima game being played 11:00 AM on Friday. If they lose to Central Arizona, they will play at 1:00 PM against the loser of the AWC/Pima game.
