Badgers Achieve Double-Digit Win Against Thunderbirds
PRESCOTT- Juniors Brittany Resendez scored ten points while Theresa Gutierrez added eight to go along with five steals on Friday as the Badgers girl’s basketball team picked a 45-29 over the Mohave Thunderbirds on senior night at Prescott High School.

“They’re a good group when we can communicate as a unit out there on the floor and they started to do that a little better tonight,” Badgers head coach Bobbi Yoder said. “Our shots were falling a little bit and they (Mohave) were being a little more patient on offense so that all kind of helps get the win.”

The win was the Badgers’ second in four games as the team looks to finish off the regular season strong.

“We just need to be the team that I know we can be and just finish out the season winning games,” Badgers senior guard Suncea Baker said.

The game on Friday night was scheduled to be the last regular season home game for the seniors, however, the recent snow storms pushed the matchup against Coconino to Saturday afternoon. Nonetheless, senior festivities were still held as each senior from the team was celebrated on the court postgame with their parents.

“It’s been kind of crazy playing since freshman year all the way to your senior year,” Badgers’ senior guard Heather Sands said. “There is a lot of memories, I’ve learned a lot of things, but it’s fun. It’s sad that it’s over but it was definitely a good experience and I’m glad I got to do it.”

The Badgers end the regular season in a makeup game against Coconino at Prescott High School School Saturday at 2:30pm.
