The Prescott High School Athletic Department is pleased to announce the hiring of Shawn Carbajal as the new Varsity Wrestling Coach for the 2019-2020 season.

Shawn was recommended for the job by many in the wrestling community. He brings to Prescott a wealth of knowledge, experience, and tradition- an alum of Prescott High School.  Shawn was born in Mesa Arizona. His parents Paul and Shelley moved Shawn and his younger brothers Brian and Greg to Prescott in 1994. He started his wrestling career at Mile High Middle School where he finished junior high with a state championship. He went on to attend Prescott High School where he was a 4x state placer and state champion in 1999. In lieu of wrestling in college Shawn made decision to follow in his father’s footsteps and join the fire department. He’s been with Peoria Fire Department for 16 years working as an Engineer and member of the Hazardous Materials Team and Rescue Swimmer Boat Team. His coaching career began at Red Mountain High School in 2001 where his younger brothers wrestled.

He is currently in the process of making the move from Gilbert to Prescott with his wife Malari and daughter Cecilia.  He is very excited and motivated to build the Prescott wrestling program, coach the team and inspire each wrestler.

After Coach Carbajal gets his family moved up to Prescott, he plans to host an open house for the Prescott High School wrestling community to meet and discuss the future plans of Badger Wrestling.  More details will come later regarding this open house.

Please help me welcome Shawn, Malari, and Cecilia back to the Badger family!
