Badgers Remain Unbeaten With 5-2 Win Over Thunderbird

15 January 2020

Lady Badgers rank number 1 in their division.

Lily Jensen scored three second half goals to lead the #1 Prescott Badgers to a 5-2 win on Bill Shepard Field last night, at Prescott High School.

Kari Kasun scored the first of two goals seconds apart in the opening half. Lily Jensen got credited with the assist on Kasun's goal at the 33:07 mark. Emma Alvarez followed to make it 2-0 with 32:41 left in the first half.

The Chiefs cut the lead in half to 2-1 at the ten minute mark. The scored remained the same as the teams headed to the locker room for the break.

The second half saw Lily Jensen score all three Prescott goals. Assists were by Ellie Magnett, Sawyer Magnett, and Alexa Sell.

Badger coach Paul Campuzano had this to say after the game. "We had uncharacteristic defensive lapses that led to an easy Thunderbird goal in the first half. We made a few adjustments at halftime and came out in the second half and scored a few quick goals."

Campuzano added, "Lily (Jensen), was the game changer tonight. She scored three and could have scored three more, but the Thunderbird keeper was good tonight. The team is focused on the rest of the season and finishing strong."

The win keeps the Division 4, #1 Prescott Badgers unbeaten at (9-0-1). The Badgers, who have outscored their opponents 45-3, will travel to Goodyear to face Estrella Foothills, on Thursday at 6pm.
