The home opener could have not gone much better for the Prescott Badgers, as they beat the Tempe Buffaloes 12-1, in a 5 inning contest, that last barely 75 minutes.

Starting pitcher Luke Fredrick, picked up his first win of the season, throwing four solid innings, mixing up his pitches well, in yielding just one run on three hits. That run scored on a bloop single down the right field line in the top of the second. Fredrick also struck out five, while allowing no walks.

"I felt good out there, hitting my spots with my pitches. It was great to get the start and pitch well," said Fredrick. "We faced some good teams in the Phoenix last week, and I felt I had a stronger outing as opposed to my start against Desert Ridge." In regards to run support, Fredrick added, "We have a lot of hitters on this team, and as a pitcher, run support is a big deal."

Tempe actually led 1-0, after a pair of two out hits. The Badgers got the equalizer in the bottom of the inning when Fredrick helped his own cause with a single followed by stealing second and third, and scoring on an Elvis Hauptman ground out.

Prescott took the lead in the third when Rhett Pearce led off being hit by a pitch. Ashton Hubbs singled, and Jacob Police was also hit by a pitch to load the bases. Korey Schwartz walked, picking up an RBI and Prescott led 2-1. Fredrick came up  and grounded to third, but a throwing error to first led to three Badger runs and a 5-1 lead.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Prescott broke it open. Leading 5-1, the Badgers added seven more, all, with two outs, that included a 1-2 pitch blasted over the left field fence by Korey Schwartz. Luke Fredrick followed with a walk and scored on a Cooper Wells double. Colby Macbeth singled in Wells. Elvis Hauptman singled, followed by an Ethan Pena walk to load the bases. Rhett Pearce emptied the bases with a triple and when the dust settled, Prescott led 12-1.

Malikja Hawkins came in to pitch the final frame for the Badgers. Prescott (2-3) will host Shadow Mountain on Thursday at 3pm. Tempe fell to (2-4).
