Fifty-Three Errors Cause Roughriders Volleyball to Lose Early Advantage Against Glendale Community College

PRESCOTT- A 2-0 lead at the break evaporated for the Yavapai College Roughrider volleyball team Wednesday, September 13th, at home against Glendale Community College as the Roughriders committed fifty-three errors in the five-set match to lose 3-2.
“Way too many errors throughout the match, even the sets we won,” Roughrider volleyball Head Coach Zachary Shaver said after the game. “Ten errors a set isn’t going to win matches, no matter who we play. We fought hard, we executed really well at times, but there was way too many errors to win a match.”

The Roughriders jumped out to an early 2-0 set lead heading into the break following two 25-23 wins.
Glendale Community College came back from the deficit to take set three 25-23 before winning a set four shootout 32-30 as Yavapai College had multiple opportunities to win the match.
We just kind of let up, let them in, and didn’t finish what we should have,” Roughrider volleyball sophomore Kaytin Yost said. “We got a lot to work on.”
The Roughriders never lead in the final set and fell 15-13 to drop the match 3-2.
“They are a smart team,” Roughrider volleyball freshman Kanani Hiapo said. “They were able to adjust to us so we just need to be able to adapt a little faster next time.”
Nynke de Vries lead the Roughriders in kills with 18 while Jailynn Butler added 13 and Yost picked up ten.
Roughriders remain at home for a matchup against Arizona Western College on Friday, September 15th. Game time is 7 pm.
