Badgers Respond from Loss to Coconino with Sweep Against Mingus

PRESCOTT- After a loss to Coconino High School on Tuesday, the Prescott High School Badgers volleyball team responded with a sweep of Mingus High School at home, Thursday, September 22nd.

“After our loss vs. Coconino, (I) just told the girls that we definitely needed to get a win tonight,” Badgers volleyball head coach Josiah Ramirez said after the game. “Help build our morale and chemistry going into our tournament this weekend and I’m glad that they were able to do so.”

After a 25-21 victory in set one and a 25-18 win in set two, the Badgers came out of the break and dominated in the third set 25-12.

“Our passing was on…our blocks were doing what they needed to do, which forced them (Mingus) to change their game plan,” Ramirez said.

Maddy Wood smacked 16 kills, seven digs, and an ace. Meanwhile, Sabrina Dimaano-Simmons lead Prescott High School on defense with 12 digs.

“It really took a lot of communication and straight out effort to win a game like this,” Wood said. “I felt like everybody did well and got some playing time, it really gave us the opportunity to show our colors as a team.”

Prescott High School now participates in the Westwood Tournament of Champions throughout the day on Friday, September 22nd and Saturday, September 23rd, before returning to section play against Lee Williams on the road Tuesday, September 26th at 6 pm.
