Embry Riddle Eagles Volleyball Holds off Pacific Union College Attack In Three-Set Sweep

PRESCOTT- The Embry Riddle Eagles volleyball team picked up their second sweep in as many days at home, Saturday, September 23rd, winning 3-0 against Pacific Union College.

“I think we did a good job managing their attack options,” Embry Riddle Eagles volleyball coach Jill Blasczyk said. “It was a good match for us, we could be a little sharper, but we’re going to get better and that’s going to come together.

Following a smooth 25-13 Eagles victory in set one, Pacific Union fought back in set two and battled Embry Riddle until the Eagles squeaked out the 25-23 set win to go up 2-0.

“It’s a good challenge to see that resilience in them and to have resilience in us to push back as well,” Eagles’ junior outside hitter Lyndsey Weiler said. “We’ve been trying to pick up our intensity because our technical skills are there."

The two teams battled in set three as the Eagles completed the sweep with a 25-22 win.

“We came together, figured out what we needed to do, then pushed right back at them,” Weiler said.

Weiler lead the Eagles with 15 kills, while Jalin Yoder added 11 kills and Caylee Robalin smacked ten kills. Meanwhile, Audrey Baldwin and Robalin each recorded two aces.

On the defensive side of the ball, Yoder paced the Eagles with 13 digs.

After two games at home, the Eagles (14-3, 4-0 CALPAC) are back on the road Friday, September 29th, against Providence Christian College at 7:00 pm.
