Former Roughrider Pitchers JoJo Romero and Chance Adams Win Pitcher of the Year for Thier Respective Organizations

PRESCOTT- It was a big day for the Yavapai College Roughrider baseball program as former Roughrider standout pitchers JoJo Romero and Chance Adams won yearly awards for their respective organizations.  

In two separate Major League Baseball articles, it was mentioned Adams won the Top Pitcher of the Year for the New York Yankees and Romero took home Top Pitcher of the Year for the Philadelphia Phillies.

Romero, Philadelphia’s fourth-round draft pick in 2016, finished his first season with the organization 10-3 with a 2.16 ERA through 23 starts for Class-A Lakewood and Class-A Advanced Clearwater. Romero is already considered the 15th best prospect in the Phillies’ system, according to Prospect Watch.

Meanwhile, Adams, who is the Yankees’ #2 prospect according to Prospect Watch, had a sparkling 2.45 ERA while striking out 135 batters in 27 starts with Double-A Trenton and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in 2017.
